Power steering pump advice needed
I'm swapping a 300 for a 90 5.0 out of Crown Vic into my 78 F100. I'm keeping the serpentine engine accessories on the 90. Both the 300 and the 5.0 pumps seem identical and both have the same size pullies, however, the crank pulley on the 300 was 5/8" smaller in diameter than the 5.0. Therefore, the 5.0 will probably spin the pump faster at any given rpm than the 300 did.
Anyone have any idea how this will effect the pressure and the feel (too touchy?) on the 78 gear box?
I also noticed the pressure fitting on the 5.0 pump had a smaller orifice than the 300 pump.
