I am trying to swap a 1980 300 into my 75 f-150 but the 80 uses the newer style power steering pump and it just won't work for my application. I need the bracket to mount the older style ford pump. what years should i look at? does anyone sell them new?
when I put the 85 300 into my 79 bronco, the 85 factory pump bracket worked. I left the 85 pump on there too. If I remember right, all I did was changed over the hoses. However, my 85 300 came without AC which may or may not make a difference. Otherwise anything up to 79 should work.
ah, yes, I forgot. Time I put the beer down. I guess yer looking at another 300 from them years, then. Any hydraulic repair shop could probably make the hoses, if worse comes to worst. motion-industries is one.
I included a picture of the power steering pump bracket that is on my 77 300 six in my gallery. Two bolts screw into the motor block and three bolts screw into the timing cover. I looked to see if there was a ford part # on it and there is not. Not sure what year ford changed ps pump maybe 78 or 79. Mine still has the old style metal pump and metal dip stick. Hope this helps in some way.
When I converted my 84 F150 over to the Saginaw pump I got the pump mounting bracket and pulley off an 80s E-series van with a 351w. I just bought a pump and the high pressure line for an 85 E150, the bracket bolted right on and the pulleys lined up perfect. I did have to make up a spacer for the back side of the Saginaw pump bracket. Works great!
