Play in the steering wheel has nothing to do with the steering shaft and flange that are located inside the steering column. The parts that affect steering wheel play could be:

King pins, draglink, L/tie rod, R/tie rod end.

The steering box itself has two sector shaft bushings that are notorious for wearing out. These are available NOS as are all the above parts that can be found in auto parts stores.

The steering box also has a sector shaft & an input steering shaft and worm. Either of these parts...when worn can cause steering wheel play.

The steering coupler (aka rag joint-available NOS) is another part that can cause play. It connects the flange of the column's steering shaft to the input shaft & worm of the steering gear box.

Well assuming i am pictureing it correctly (the truck and parts are at my grandparents). It is the part that is attached to the end of the steering shaft that is worn and it looks like it is unable to come off, thus assuming i need the whole shaft. I could be wrong, but if it does come off hey... Saves me some money haha

It's a separate part, replaceable by itself. See 3A525 in parts catalog pic.
You can buy just the rubber section of the coupler at auto parts stores, but it can be a real b!tch to install!

> 1966 F100/250 2WD: There are TWO different steering couplers. The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN <

C5TZ-3A525-A .. Steering Coupler-Larger pin is .41" O.D. / Obsolete

Applications: 1965 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100/250 2WD before serial number 900,001.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C6TZ-3A525-A .. Steering Coupler-Larger pin is .56" O.D. / Obsolete

Applications: 1966 F100/250 2WD from serial number 900,001 / 1967/68 F100/250 2WD & F350.

Both of these couplers are available NOS .. Let me know which one you need.
