Good day! I have a question for all y'all. Is the truck in the link worth a look in person? I will call the person later today.

Can't be all original, a 292 wasn't available in a truck until about '58. What else are they fudging?

He could also be unaware, and the engine is really the original y block.. The guy I bought my parts truck (55) from was certain that it was originally a 292 V8. I'd take a look myself, but get educated on here about what all you should look for, especially parts they don't reproduce anymore.

Odds are that the original engine was replaced eith a 292, or it still has a 239 y-block.

what parts are no longer made for both engines?

Could they be rebuilt by a simpleton? or would it take a professional shop to do it?

I had my water pump rebuilt by a pro. It wasn't too expensive. But if you have a press, you can find youtube videos to show how it's done. It's not much different than any other water pump in that regard.

The guys that did it just needed to see what size bearings it had and they pulled them off their shelf.

By the way....It looks like they are asking $14K for the truck. And no pictures!!!!!
good for you if it's nice. I would think many people didn't even bother with no pictures. The price was a little hidden too.

$14K with this kind of paint and roof rust??

Looks a bit rough for that kind of money.
They must have this confused with the thoroughbred German shepherds they sell.

As much as I'd like '54, I wouldn't pay even half the price they're asking. As Joe said, that roof rust and paint won't bring in $$$.

I recently sold a 1-owner rust-free Calif 53 F100 with no engine for $2,500...I wouldn't pay anywhere near the asking price on this 54 truck.

Jeez, I need my eyes checked... I never saw $14K, nor can I swing anywhere near that kinda dough. Its not worth 20% of that, but thats just me...

No engine/tranny, killer on any deal for me. I would like to have an engine to work with initially.

I recently bought a running, driving 56 F100 big window Custom Cab for under 5K. Based on that, I would think a fair price would be somewhere between $2K and $3K.
