Ok, 6 or 12 volt

Hey guys, my new 48 f-1 had a 12 volt battery in it with some real cobbled up wires just to make it run. Nothing else works. i want everything to work as it should, heater, gauges. Etc. I also want it to look bone stock with original wiring. Should I convert back to 6 volt or go 12v? What will be cheaper? More authentic? Truck will be used mainly for Sunday driving to the hardware store, farm.

If it were me; I'd use a 12V system. I found this: Universal 12 Circuit Wiring Harness | HotRodWires.com as I cobble together the funds for a 1950 Ford Dually I have seen sitting with a for sale sign on it.

Stock is 6v Positive Ground. Going back to stock... The alt needs to go back to a 6v gen... make sure it's + ground.... and start connecting each accessory one at a time and check to make sure it works and doesn't drain the battery.... Check you wiring...
