Replacing vulcanized rubber for Polyurethane (F-1000) A lot of pics.

Hello guys...
I here to share a upgrade that I did few year ago in my Ford F-1000 1995.
I replaced the originals vulcanized rubber bushings of 2wd front suspension (Twin I Beam) for polyurethane bushings.

It doesn't have here to sell.... then I made by myself.
The place that I work have some turning and milling tools that I used to produced the new bushings.

The objetive was increase durability and get more stability...

Some pics to share with you...

Commnets and opinions are welcome.

Start to desassembly

Old original bushing (Axius Monroe)

all dismounted

Very dirty..

The new one

My only concern is what is preventing the pivot bushing from walking out of the ibeam? I would think you would want to have another shoulder made so the beam can ride against the hanger as you don't have the metal bonded sleeve that prevents it from moving.

Other then that they look awesome and you got one clean rig there!

Good point man....

During the project.. I thought about how could I remove the external metal cover of original bushing.
The polyurethane was made bigger than hole bar, it gone to a hydroulic press... without that center metal bushing. In sequence the center metal was pressed.

If you see the last but one picture both sides of polyurethane are expanded.
It can't walk on the beam.

About the cleanig... I always wash before to start a maintenance.....it is not common...hehe

Thx for observation...

Sorry man. English is not my main (or first) language.
Now I understand .!!!

I'm the second owner of this truck. and the first used her just for carry small things from the town to farm. It have 147k Km (91k miles) and don't was expose to rain and sun.
When I can.. I sprayed vaseline on the frame and under the cab and bed. trying to keep without rust.

It is liquid paraffin.. excellent to prevent rust and do not deteriorate the rubbers.

Your bushings look like they have alot of time into them. I just installed Energy Suspension's bushings(Part Number: 4.3133g)
in my 88' f150, they press out/in with a ball joint press, so ,they fit real tight. Here a pic of them, they sell red and black.

They have the metal shell like the original rubber ones. The shell adds stability to the bushing, and helps keep it in place. Yours will work but for how long? Energy Suspension bushings are about $25 for both. I used the energy suspension bushing on my whole build, bought the master kit from them.
