Thieves usually don't bother with Excursions because of the PATS. It takes time to bypass the PATS, this is why they go after crew cab, long bed, 4wd 1999-2007 Super Duties. No PATS to mess with, they throw a shell on the back, spray paint the windows, and go from there.

Baldo, you should be just fine with that rig if everything checks out. See about shooting a PM with the VIN to 'carbon coupe' on here. He's really good about helping us out with Ford OASIS reports.
I bought my '01 7.3 Limited with 183k on it several years ago and absolutely love it. I've had a few typical issues for mileage and 7.3, and some not so common issues (I tend to either break stuff or have stuff fail that rarely happens to most). Still love the rig to death.
I would peek at some basic upgrades from Clay at RiffRaffDiesel - there are a few fixes to factory design that can be had such as the FRx and HPX, and the 6637 intake helps as well.

I should clarify....
They will break into them all day, but in the 15 years since they're release, you rarely hear of them getting stolen.
My '01 was broken into twice. Once for the radar detector I left up November 2009 and again January 2012 for the empty laptop bag I carelessly left out. On neither incident did they even try to vice-grip the ignition.
They never got into the '05 because of Jimmi Jammers, they sure tried, but the Jimmi Jammers did their job.
