Since the Explorer axle is described as thicker & heavier, I'm going to guess that it is a 8.8" and the other axle is a 7.5" model. If this is the case, I don't think that anything is interchangeable.
both are 8.8, but seems to me explorer has 31 spline shafts, ranger has 28
This is correct. The ring and pinion are the same, and umm....I think that's about it. Everything else is different between the 28 spline and 31 spline.
No, you cannot use the axle shafts, as they are a different diameter. The axle bodies are different between 28 spline and 31 spline. You can't use 28 spline parts in a 31 spline body, or vice versa. The carrier is also different and won't work. Like I said, the ring and pinion gears are the only things that are interchangable.
the most popular ranger 2wd in Ukraine is 3.0, but with 7.5" axle. And as I know 7.5 axle got 28 spline axle shaft. Can I use axle shaft from 8.8 to 7.5"?
