Hey guys I have a 2004 ford f350 6.0 powerstroke and after I changed fuel filters in it I started it up let run awhile to make sure no fuel was leaking. The next morning I went to start it and it was sputtering to stay running I called my mechanic and he told me there is air getting into the fuel line after it sits for about 6 hours when it is shut down. I put wix filters in it and that's weather my sputtering began. he told me to take then out and put motorcraft ones in so I did that and I still have a hard time starting it. I got it started, it ran for a minute then shut itself down and I couldn't get it started again. Could use some help with this. Thank you
After changing filters did you do the key on engine off priming? Get someone to help you out, take the cover off the upper filter housing and have then turn the key on but don't start. See if you are getting good fuel to the top filter.
Removing the top cover is not the process of priming it but that will just let you know if you are getting fuel up there. For priming after filter change you want to turn the key on engine off 5-6 times to get the fuel back up to the top of the engine.
There is a start process that needs to follow after changing filters to ensure the system is purged. I can't recall the exacts but it is posted on the board here.
