Fuel pump recommendation

I need to replace the fuel pump on my 2001 E150 4.6. I found this one on Amazon:
Amazon.com: Delphi HP10079 Fuel Pump and Hanger Assembly with Sending Unit: Automotive Amazon.com: Delphi HP10079 Fuel Pump and Hanger Assembly with Sending Unit: Automotive
Good choice? If not, any recommendations?
Thanks!!

Airtex is OEM for fuel pumps, typically available through the same online or brick & mortar local stores. Dephi is a good brand, not sure there's an advantage of one of those choices over the other. BTW that's a decent price---I believe I paid over $150 for one that still sits unused, never out of the box for my 2000 E250, 5.4 motor.

Another thing to keep in mind is keeping the tank at least 1/4 full all the time helps extend life of fuel pumps. Because they use fuel as a coolant running it lower consistently shortens its life.

I've learned yet another tidbit of knowledge. I've long been told to maintain at least one-quarter tank of fuel, but not for this reason. It makes sense once I stopped to think about it.

I ended up buying the one on Ebay for $100. I found a highly recommended mechanic to install it for $200. I was thinking about doing it myself, but with an unheated garage in the middle of winter, I decided to pass.

My usual auto repair place wanted $850 for parts and labor. I was quite surprised as they have been quite reasonable on past repairs. I was quite happy to save $550 by shopping around a little.

So far the fuel pump is working great!

Glad that worked out.

I just told my wife the other day about her car being driven on 'E' all the darn time. I told her JWA told me the consequences so she better listen!

Well women tend to ignore the best automotive advice bestowed upon them---if its still working at the moment we men don't know squat---right?

Of course let her chariot flame out and OMG do we hear words polite people avoid! I mean why does it matter if it's "only a few quarts low......." on oil?

I jest of course but the two gals I'm dating are clueless and couldn't care less about such things----they've got me right?

Nope, it's the side/mid mounted tank.

He's in Shakopee, MN! The guy doesn't have much of an interwebz presence. I'm guessing he get most of his work by word of mouth.

Looks like an ok part. I get concerned about super cheap parts but it's still $100, and Delphi should be ok for the average user. I've almost always stuck with Motorcraft pumps but recently installed a Spectra pump in a van that has one wheel in the grave anyhow. We've put 55,000 miles on it and only thing I've noticed so far is that it has a much less conservative low fuel light. We had the light come on and just about 12 miles later we ran out of gas. Motorcraft pumps throw the light on with 35 miles or more of reserve fuel.

Motorcraft pumps have shown to last about 500,000 miles in our operation. 2010 and later, the pump is a new design and we've got one with 590k still going - over 40,000 gallons of gasoline pumped. I've got to figure that an aftermarket that lasts half as long is still adequate for most people.

I was gonna ask how two different pumps would be different but then I guess it would be a mechanical float level difference,eh?
