I had the Steltex , then the Destination AT's on my 250 , great tire , heller good snow traction , quiet , 50k+ miles before they wore out .... ended up selling the truck.
The next tire I want to try will be the Michelin LTX M/S2 , I like it better over the AT2 because of the extra siping , looks like a modern studless winter tire , and that is the one issue I had with the Steeltex and Destinations , from a stop , I could not get traction worth a damn on hard pack snow or ice . Either needed 400 lbs of rock salt or engage 4wd ... annoying.
Let me tell you , 4X4 and a bed full of firewood and that thing was incredible in some deep heavy snow ... 20"+ , had a blast , got all of my wifes co-workers home without a problem that day.
Vote #3 for Michelin LTX M/S 2's...Have them on my truck 2008 F250 6.4 diesel crew cab. Over 100, 000 km on them and still very good tread. Tow 37' RV trailer in summer weighing in around 14k so the tires def have to work. Great traction in snow or wet. Rotate them regularly and they last very well. Little more pricey to start....but def worth it.
I work for a public agency and we've installed literally hundreds of Transforce ATs on our trucks without a single problem that I can recall. They balance easily, ride smoothly, and wear like iron. I wouldn't hesitate to put them on my own truck.
X2 Tom A. The Transforce AT have been excellent tire for our municipality as well. Works very well on our pickups for plowing alleys during snow events. I personally have used AT and HT. Will absolutely stay with the AT from here on out! I don't have the tires balanced on my personal vehicle, but use the balancing type beads and have not had a problem.
I am running Firestones value brand tires, Primewell Valera, in the LT285/70R17 size and they have been outstanding tires, have over 80K on them and they aren't quite down to the wear bars yet! Ride and handle well and the larger than stock size fills the wheel openings better. I highly recommend them.
My 2010 F350 came with the Transforce AT's and they seem to be excellent. Time will tell how many miles I get out of them but in all, they're working out well.
