91K 2000 F250 7.3 manual 6 speed
Replaced cruise control switches on wheel three months ago (right after I bought it) - worked fine with the new switches.
Today it quit (again).
Can someone list the possible things to check beginning with the most common and ending with the least common reasons?
I popped the hood before it got dark and snapped this pic. . .
Is there supposed to be a hose going to the port between the two wire connectors? I groped around a bit and found no loose vacuum lines or anything else out of whack (that I could tell).
Not sure if this has anything to do with my cruise control not working.
One think I might add, when it did work, if I even barely touched the brake (and I mean barely as in just thought about it), the cruise would quit. Is there a brake switch adjustment I could do so I't's not that sensitive?
No the brake all it takes is a bump to stop the cc.
It could be the clock spring but with out codes all I can do is help you spend money on parts that may be it
Thanks for the info on the port.
And no, I haven't gotten into the scanner stuff yet - was hoping I didn't have to start gettin' all techy with this rig just yet. Not sayin I won't at some point, just not right now.
I can live without cruise till I do but I'll miss it.
It just seems odd that after a brand new set of switches and three months, it quits. With the old switch set it worked but was intermittent. Now it just acts dead.
The AE tool (7.3 specific) appears to be the best but 350+ is not in the cards right now.
Are there any fairly obvious things I could check without the scanner?
Not sure if you have looked at this already but it would be Something easy to check. clutch position switch. See post #23 in this thread. Excellent picture and how to
Not sure if yours is the same but easy to check out. I have a 2002 auto 4X4 and had my cruse control go out. I did some research and it turned out to be a burned out 3rd brake light, the one on the back of the cab up top. Apparently that wire supplies power to the cruse control. Just replace the bulb if it is burned out and you are good to go.
Thanks for the assist.
It worked fine this morning then quit just before I arrived at work (about 27 miles). Then it worked all the way home. Too busy right now to get into it so I'm taking the leaky roof path, it only leaks when it rains.

That's what I was going to say. Clutch pedal position switch has been the only thing that caused cruise issues for me. I did the whole switch test, tear apart the steering wheel and check the switches, etc. I've had 2 of them fail on me.
The pre-bled clutch hydraulics from Rock Auto come with a new CPP, so I've got a spare one on standby for next time.
