Fuel Line Quick disconnect retainer spring
I'm new to Ford vehicles and I just bought my very first 5.0L 1995 Ford F-150 XL 2wd. Previously I owned a 1986 Nissan 300zx. Yes, I know two completely different vehicles.
Any how, when I bought my truck the midships fuel tank was reading empty. I dropped the tank today to discover the fuel level float was full of fuel. I sodered the seam around the edge and the two holes I drilled into it to get the fuel out. So far the gauge is reading ok. In that sense the repair was a success, but in the process of dropping the fuel tank I made a mistake. I'm used to import cars where you have to "muscle" the fuel line off the fuel pump fittings. I made this mistake on one of the fuel lines feeding the fuel pump. I accidentily broke the metal retaining clip on the inside of the female end of the quick disconnect. I figured that since there is that secondary retaining clip on the outside of the quick disconnect that, that would be enough to hold the two together. I drove the truck a few miles and I have not check to see if I'm losing fuel. In case I do lose fuel, where do I buy that metal retaining spring? Auto Zone sells something called Duck Bill Clips, but it doesn't look the same. Did they upgrade the part?
Any help would be great!
