I am about to order bumpers and grill shell for my truck. Was planning on getting the premium bumpers from lmc as well as the premium steel grill shell. Then i heard that lmc's bumpers sucked and that the grill didnt fit very well. Anybody had experience with lmc bunpers and grill?
This is going on a show truck so i need the bumpers and grill to be really nice. Any ideas on who has the best or where i should shop, please let me know. Plan on ordering today
I would check into FTE sponsor Blue Oval Truck Parts for the bumper and Dennis Carpenter for your grille shell. Not heard good things about some of what LMC sells, especially what you are looking for.
Well, I'm sure some others will chime in here but my buddy put LMC bumpers on his truck about a year ago. In my opinion they looked OK, not great. And after one year they look pretty crappy in my book! I'm am pretty picky tho. On my 79 F350 resto job I'm doing, I got my bumpers from JBG and they look great! I put a set on a 79 brocno a few years back and they still look great. I also painted the back side of the chrome bumpers with black chassis paint just to protect them and to make them look a little nicer--just my thoughts tho!!

Also, I just put a DC grille shell & grille insert on my 79 F350, and they look great BUT the grille shell is definitely thinner than the factory originals. The inserts is great tho. I'm thinking of having my original grille shell bright dip or maybe even chrome powder coated?? I'm thinking "if" you were to hit a hard shell bug at 60-65mph it would make a dent!!

Thats why i was looking at the steel one from lmc, but now im scared of lmc so idk what to do
Here is one if you don't mind paying for it. lol http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-OEM-Ford-1973-1977-Truck-Pickup-Grille-Shell-F100-F250-F350-1974-1975-1976-/121524001954?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c4b651ca2&vxp=mtr
What about door panels??? I plan on painting mone cuz it will all be custom so they dont have to be the best but it would be nice if they were very close to original since its a crew cab and they dont make rears. I really only need the front drivers....was plannin on lmc but im sure that isnt the way to go anymore
Well if you are doing a show truck, I'm not sure I would buy much from LMC if you care about quality. but that's just my .02---Oh and in case you are just finding this out, ALL the high quality parts are expensive!! haha You kinda get what you pay for!!
IIRC, JBG sells DC door panels, but if I wrong there, again depend on your look that you are going for I would buy from DC...BUT if yours are decent and just need a color change that's pretty simple!! I have had good luck spraying them with PlastiKote or Rustoleum "paint for plastic".

Ok so i got door panels at DC, bumpers at JBG, that only leaves the grille shell. LMC is the only place i see that offers an all steel premium one. Its fairly expensive and looks really good in pics. I thought i heard at one time that the steel ones were good from LMC but would love to hear from someone who has one or knows someone who has one before i order
When you say a show truck, are you going resto, resto-custom or custom? Personally, I would hunt down the yards for the bumpers, find the straight ones and send it in for show chroming. You may want to think about fabbing the grille if your doing some custom route. There are examples on here for different, custom and BEAUTIFUL grilles and door panels, etc.
