My glow plug harness repair

So preparing for turbo install and i figured i would update my gp harness sice im going to move it over to Pass valvecover with Banks bracket. I was gonna make a complete new one but wire was ok upon disassembly. I did squeeze them together a bit and forced them on glowplug to spread for a tight fit I was more comfortable with. Sorry for pics, i still havent figured out how to size them yet.

dorman 85268 weather resistant bullet female connector

crimped then heated with lighter to shrink tubing

almost done

A little wire loom added and on the truck. Piece of cake.

I discovered those heat shrink connectors a couple years ago. Solder and heat shrink is better, but if really like them. I have even recommended them to members here several times.

They have some sort of sealer in them that squeezes out when shrinking.

BMW uses a similar method, its 2 part but basically a but connector then fancy shrink tube with shmootz that comes out when you heat it, very sturdy and approved for air bag harness repairs

that is dielectric grease. it protects the connection from corrosion.

and if you can not find or do not have .157 weather proof connections, you can use the regular .174 crimp connectors and heat shrink tubing with a dab of dielectric grease.
just pinch the end a bit with a pair of pliers to snug them up on the glow plug tip.

on mine, the terminals were fine, but insulation had crumble off ,so I just slid a layer of regular (non-adhesive line) heatshrink on, shrunk it down with a heat gun, and added a second layer. made to take heat, and stays on pretty good. could add some dielectric grease if you want to. If the terminal was damaged, I would either find some uninsulated bullet connectors in the correct size, or insulated ones and take the insulation off and put 2 layers of heatshrink on. Never had much good luck making good crimps with insulated terminals, and these draw enough power, its important.
