hi gents im trying to put in after market keyless entry on my 03 sd wired up my relays according to the 5 wire alternating door locks found on this pagehttp://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp but it keeps popping my fuse when I try to put it in any idea's if this is even the correct set up I found another guy on here that used the same set up but never said if it worked or not thanks in advance
wire terminals 85 and 86 are for the coil to energize the relay....doesn't matter which side you on on with the 12volts.
the other 3 terminals are for the 'switched' 12volts.
Terminal 30 should be the 12volt common terminal, You can use the same 12volts source for the relay coil.
Terminal 87 is the Normally Open side of relay
Terminal 87a is the Normally Closed side of relay
The above 3 terminals do not have a ground wire attached to them else it will blow the fuse. Check to make sure you have your wires on the correct terminals. I think you have a ground wire attached to one of the above 3 terminals (30, 87 or 87a).
I have a 2006 F-350 lariat. I bought the truck used and it has the keyless entry on the drivers door. When I purchased the truck I didn't get the code for the keyless entry. I have been able to find the factory code and it does not work. I believe that the previous owner has put a different code in it. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can reset the keyless entry code back to the factory code so I can use it? Thank you for your help.
Still think you have a connection wrong or maybe selected the wrong wire to use for the locks?
Buy some fuses. Disconnect all wires. Check to see if any are ground wires and not suppose to be. Re-identify your wires to verify the right ones are selected.
Then.....
Add wires for ONE relay. Add the wires for terminals 85 and 86. Operate the locks and see if it blows. Then add wire for terminal 30. Operate it and see if it blows. Add wire for 87 and check. Add wire for 87a and check. If any of these wires cause it to blow fuse, find out what wires you are actually using.
If fuse does not blow, start adding wires to second relay as described above. Again, if it blows the fuse, find out why that wire causes it to blow.
