Putting my 5.0 ho back together and can't figure out where this bracket goes. It's been several months since disassembled and I'm gettin old. I labeled it LIM(lower intake manifold) but can't find any open holes. Engine is from a 88 stang. Please help me with its location. Pics if possible. Thanks.
I believe it may have been a brace for the upper where it overhangs the valve cover but it's not really necessary and you won't hurt anything by leaving it off.
On mine, it's located at the back of the engine. One end slips over a stud that sticks up from the lower manifold, and a second nut hold it down, and the other end is bolted to a hole at the back of the block. That area is really tight in my engine compartment, so I've never actually seen the rear hole on the block, just got to it by feel.
So it's for the lim to block? I was trying to fit it between lim to uim, lol. I wonder why the lower intake needs support to the eng. block? Thanks for the replies.
The part that attaches to the intake actually goes ABOVE the base flange of the upper intake that is bolted down to the lower. Once you tighten the nut down, you slip one end of the brace over the stud, and hold it down with another nut. So it's sort of holding BOTH pieces of the intake down, but only at the rear corner. I honestly don't know how much support it provides there.
