52 F-2 Power Drum/drum brake?
We bought a power brake booster kit with a 7inch booster the bracket that bolts it where the original master cylinder was and a dual reservoir master cyl. Question: must we install a 10psi residual valve in the front and rear circuit? It is still the original drum / drum set up. We have it plumbed with the brake light switch and adjustable proportioning valve to the rear wheels. The master cylinder came with 4 ports so we ran 2 lines off of the rear of the m/c 1 to the left frt 1 to the right frt seemed really easy that way for the frt and then used the port closest to the frame on the front of m/c for the rear circuit. Now a friend of ours said he believes we have to add these residual valves because the master is below the wheel cylinders?? is this true? Just wondering because the original m/c was in the same place and there were no residual valves in the original lines.
Tech tip: if you buy the power brake kit on Ebay that claims it "bolts directly on the frame as the original m/c for '47-'52 Ford trucks" it does not, the bolt pattern is way too small. So what I did was go to my local exhaust shop, bought a heavy 3bolt exhaust flange, and welded it on to the 3bolt flange end of the adapter bracket. Bolt holes lined up perfect and bolted it right on. Finally maybe I can help someone instead of asking all the questions
Thanks for all your help so far with our project!
