If that is a coolant line that cannot be the inlet air temp sensor that would be a coolant temp sensor. Even tho I have owned two straight 6 f250's I am by far an expert on them.
The bigger part is the water outlet. I would call it
Either heater hose outlet o heater hose connector

I am not experienced enough to disagree about the sensor. You may surely be entirely correct.
I had 'googled' the part number showing on the sensor and it was identified as AIT Sensor... it however is not my main concern...
Can you, by any chance, tell me what that piece is called that the sensor screws into and attaches to the heater core hose?
I ordered a new thermostat housing and I want a new 'what ever that is' as well.... but I do not know what to call it, in order to search for the best deal on price.
It is called simply a 'heater hose fitting'... and the Ford part number is now obsolete... but some are still available... but not many... it is :
heater hose fitting D9TZ-18599-A
They no longer are making them... so it is a hefty cost factor... compared to what I paid for a new thermostat housing.... as I got the new part for $43, which includes $8 for shipping. In light of the fact that the original piece lasted 24 years... suggests that investing in a new one is not that bad a deal, really.
