Ok,, my "new 77 F250 4x4/400/NP435/4.10" Maximus/Optimus,,, the heater core was not heater coring,,, i.e. NO HEAT,,, so I was going to flush it,,, outlet pipe came off,,, it has AC,,, sooo,,,, was wondering if anyone has cut the box in the engine compartment around the heater core and pulled it out and taped it back up? Yes, I know,, lazy way, but he is a hunting woodcutting truck, and not worried about unmolested stuff,,, just wondering!
really not looking forward to pulling it all out,,,
replaced mine in my ranger with air, not fun but wasn't bad. my fan didn't work so replaced that too. come to find out a plugin was fried when i got in there but still replaced it.
Not that hard of a job to change it even with A/C. I don't see any reason to cut up the box to do so, you still need it to be in good shape to provide heat.
Why not take the a/c box and all that stuff out and just put a reg heat and vent box in with a easy to access heater core and blower motor? Since its a hunting woodcutting truck?
I have read a thread on here where a guy cut the rivets on the outer metal plate jerry rig removed the blower motor and fan and then removed the heater core and then put it back together. Maybe it is in the threads below?
just bit the bullet and did it,,, as 79FordBlake said,,, not that hard,,,
Thanks for links 77&79F250...
Just one of things I hadn't done before,,, wasn't looking forward to,, but just did it!
Back is a little sore from position, but I have heat now!! Of course we are having a warming trend and has been in the 60-70 range WTH?!? Of course it will warm up now that I have heat,,, but we need snow and lots of it!!
