engine help

Hey guys,I bought a newer 302(92) and it has power steering and a/c. Since my truck doesn't have that, could I take them off? If so, in what way do I put the new belt? Thanks.

Not 100% sure but I think you may need to switch from a serpentine belt back to a V-groove style pulley set up if you eliminate both the A/C and power steering pump . If so you will need to switch out the water pump as well. The pump for the serpentine belt rotates opposite direction of the standard V-groove.

i have seen an a/c delete pulley setup, but i don't know what you'd do about the p/s pump. if you have to fab another dummy pulley setup, you might be better off going back to the v belt system. either way it's alot of extra work.

Go to a Mustang board and ask the same question. This is common mod for the vintage 65-73 guys.

They have the procedure down for the easiest and lowest cost.
