Looking at extended Maintenance

I am at about 26,000.00 on my 2012 and thought i would start looking at the extendaed warranty options. I have gone back and looked at some of the threads, this is my question. According to my warranty book the factory coverages are

Bumper to bumper 3/36
powertrain 5/60
safety restraint 5/60
powerstorke diesel 5/100

This is not my only vehicle so i am driving it about 10 to 11,000 miles per year so the years of the warranty will be what expires first.
I want to keep it for about 6 years.

What am i really losing on bumper to bumper that is costly as most of the costly powertrain coverage i need will last for 5 years.

If I am only going to need that last year of coverage does it make sense to buy it now while the factory coverage is in place for another 2.5 year?

Thanks for your input.

Frank

Throw the Dice or pay for insurance...
If you can't live with the thought of any unexpected expenses, buy insurance and hope you get to use it. or not !!

Yea, sounds to me like you're interested in insurance? Extended warranty?

You can buy various types of insurance/warranty policies, just depends on your dealer and insurance carrier and what your state allows. I believe coverages vary by state?

Using the truck so little I wouldn't worry about anything for quite some time if I were you. The engine manufacturing defects from the early 2011 models won't bother you. As far as I can tell, you're sitting pretty for a long time to come.

Bought my 2012 on 5 July 12. As of today, I have 53,200 miles on the truck with only some minor sensor issues. I bought an extra 100K of coverage at time of purchase that will cover the engine and all powertrain items. Got a good deal on the warranty or I would not have bought one. I was a holiday weekend and they wanted to deal I guess.
