SCANNER OR OBD READER FOR SOFT CODES OR WRENCH LIGHT?
i have a livewire and it only picks up the hard codes
im wondering if there is something for the soft codes that i can plug in as my green wrench light only comes on after half an hour of driving on highway and the dealership needs the light to be on for them to find out what it is and they can not just take the truck to them when it goes on like the manual suggests. i have to book an appointment ,bla bla bla, and everytime i shut truck off and turn it back on it is reset.
my only option now is to book and appointment and drive truck an hour earlier and hope that i can get the light to come on and bring it to them and leave it run.
it would be nice if there is an aftermarket tool that i can just plug in next time it comes on and read the code and then get whatever code fixed. makes things much easier.
im not sure what Fords logic is with this stupid idea of not storing a code in the system when this happens. for a truck that has so many bells and whistles, its sure missing the common sense things unless its the bigger picture of sucking money from a customer and having to use the dealer only and pay through the nose.
Not sure if you are talking about "pending" codes. I run the Torque App for Android. Program is $5 and the Bluetooth OBD adapter was $20. It can basically read any parameter that your ECU puts out. When I look up trouble codes, it shows "pending" codes in grey - codes that have not been set in the computer, but it needs more driving to verify. Here are a couple of pics of the gauges, but I don't have a pic of the DTC screen.
