Exclamation 4.9ltr swap to a 302. Will the five speed tranny bolt up?

Curious about doing a swap from a 4.9 ltr to a 302. Currently there is a five speed in the truck. Will the 302 bolt up? 1994 model year f150 4x4

Are there any major changes that have to be made in order to prep for the swap? I do know the 302 is out of a 94 gt or cobra I believe. Thanks for the help!

You have to change the frame towers that hold the engine mounts, swap to a V8 engine harness from ideally another 94 truck, install the V8 rad and hoses, and plug in a 5.0 PCM.

Flywheel balance is different. Be sure to use a 5.0 flywheel.

From what I remember the 4.9s will unbolt, but the 302s generally have a couple of rivets on the frame towers that you can replace with Grade 8 bolts/nuts. Cost is minimal -- 10s dollars range normally.

A lot of effort and $ to gain 2 cubic inches.

Its the driver's side mount that requires 3 rivets removed and replaced with bolts for the 302 engine perch to mount to the crossmember.

The passenger side for both 300 and 302 perches are bolted in place.

I'm sure most are more interested in the 100hp upgrade this swap can easily produce.. and that V8 sound of course.

Yup, V8 sound for sure and the 302/5.0l has a lot of aftermarket support.

Stock, maybe not so much to gain. Compare the specs. Note the torque and the RPM range where peak torque is made.

And, best for last, this is why you should go with the 351W/5.8l

All stock no but it's dumb easy to get 250-275hp out of a 5.0.. you put a cam in it and install an exhaust system like everybody does anyway... that's it.
But yeah.. choose a 5.8 instead and you get the same HP and more torque than both of the smaller motors make at any rpm.
