1992 F250, 4x4 5.8 I have a leak in the coolant system. I can't locate where it is. It was steaming from behind the alternator, (looked like that was where it was coming from) the heater hose's and thermostat is back there. but I couldn't see for sure where it was coming from, so I took off the fan, alternator, upper radiator hose, I see no obvious places it is leaking. Any ideas.
Also changed the oil just to make sure I wasn't getting water in the oil, nothing there, oil looks good, BUT the liquid in the radiator looks a little milkish, no oil sheen, just a little whiteish in color, is there a possibility of getting oil in the water but not water in the oil? I did put some stop leak in there could that be the discoloration?
Right now since I have everything apart I plan on replacing all the hoses, and thermostat to see if that works.
EXACTLY. Tearing it apart before you KNOW whats leaking is at best 50/50. Once its apart you cant test it. Put a pressure tester on it to KNOW what's leaking.
