Could I run headers and keep my stock intake? Maybe make a plate to bolt to the bottom of the intake? I cant afford a new intake and 4 barrel right now.
can someone explain to me how to adjust the new lifters and rocker arms with the comp 268h cam in now? i cant find anything on it and i dont wanna blow my damn engine
I have a 96 f150 efi and from my understanding the main modification to these headers is notching the bracekt to the alternator. Is there anything else? i plan on doing a full exhaust mod to. will these headers bolt to the manifold and around the efi intake? and how long is the header? any help for a efi is appreciated?
soooo after reading this whole thread, what primaries are better? the smaller heddman hedder or the hooker super comp? i dont mind spendin money to do it right and not wonder "what if" or do it half assed. I plan on building the six with a 268 cam, SBC valves, 4bbl and more good stuff.
Yo, sorry to bring up this thread again, but I just got my hedmans in the mail, and was wondering what kind of exhaust systems you guys had and how you like them. I love how 82f100swb's sounds but that things cammin like crazy and all I've got is the comp 268H so I'm not sure how the difference in idle will sound. But for the most part I'm trying to balance good sound with over-all performence. So do you guys have any suggestions?
And for those who are wondering...putting a cam in a 300 ain't that bad...its just the gettin around everything thats a pita. Once everythings outta the way you can do it in a couple hours. Just make sure you take note of what vacuum hose goes where...I still don't have heat in my truck cept the default defrost ha.
FMC nice job on the bracket. Say could you tell me if that is a stock 79 thermostat housing and where you bought it, as I am looking to clean up the one on my 1986 f250 300 six and this one looks pretty clean. Thanks for your time.
OK, I have a question about the Headers in general since I have a '92 EFI model.
I've read alot of threads that always talk about cheap performance upgrades as just installing the EFI headers on the carbed models. If the EFI headers are better stock than the old Carb Headers, is there enough of a performance increase to change out my EFI headers with a Hedman or Hooker unit? My engine is stock for now but I'm looking for things to help it run easier and longer.

IMO the stock EFI manifolds is they way to go, from my research going to true headers wont get ya much more of a gain verses the headache of install'n them with the starter issues ect.
prob why you see the EFI manifolds talked about and not headers for late model 300's .... sure others will have alot more info than me tho
I've kinda suspected the same thing. Most of my reading on all the forums seem to focus on the carberated 300's. There's not alot of upgrading discussed for the EFI, i guess, 91-96 models.
One more advantage of the EFI manifolds. If you ever encounter a smog check, they are 100% emission legal, while most headers are not.
That, combined with the starter and gasket issues that are very common with headers = headers lose, EFI manifolds win, in my biased opinion.......
