I just try and steer clear and let off when the law is close by. All my buddies run straight pipes and none of us has been caught yet. Just stay smart.

I could care less whether the law is near or not cause my truck sounds like a diesel, shifts like one too. What I am worried about is the safety inspection for emissions each year. My truck has cut it real close a few times. One year it passed within 1/1000th of a point, the tester couldn't believe it and neither could I.
So if I remove the cats, the truck has to be able to pass inspection without them.
I don't know if there's inspections in Nebraska or not. Something I've never worried about. It's just if the cops see your cats are gone your in trouble for about 3000 bucks.
I don't condone this but, Just get a cat, cut it down the seam and weld the halves over a straight part of your exhaust before the muffler, they won't know the difference.
Wow, this post got dug up, 2003? Wow that was 5 yrs ago. Anyways they work, they also work on 4x4's, I could never see any reason why they wouldn't, there's nothing to hit over there, and when I put em on my pickup they went on fine, although the starter is impossiable to get out now.
i have a 90 f150 and am putting hooker headers on, do i have 2 alter the alternater bracket (if so how?) or can i put on an older style bracket (b4 the air pump came out)?
Welcome to the site. Here is a shot of my modified alternator bracket on my '79 with Hedmens. It's chopped in half and smoothed over on one corner. I haven't seen the pre-smog pump brackets so I can't say how they'd fit.
I don't know if the old style bracket works with the serpentine belt system. Might be worth looking into, though. The stock alternator bracket takes a pretty large cut to make it clear.
i know SilverStreak said he needed to space the bracket also, i didnt. dont know if i took out more than he did or what. when i swap intakes im gunna take off the alternator backet and cut off the part for the smog pump since im dumped it, doesnt matter because all it does it pump air to under the hood.
The notch in mine isn't that large. When I put my headers on there really wasn't any prior information for the swap. I was worried about the bracket cracking if I cut out too much, so I installed spacers about 1/2" thick behind it. After having the notch cut in the bracket for nearly 9 years with no problems, I would probably skip the spacers if I did it again.
