Timingchain costs 2001 sport trac?
just bought a non running explorer yesterday in nice shape, needs timing chain done
anybody have the cost of timing chain replacement in a 2001 sport trac?
I know the engine needs to be pulled to do the job, I can pull it and install it, but I've never been into a 4.0 SOHC motor.
I am planning on fullsize axles under it and a steering box instead of IFS/rack , but would like to try out the 4.0 first.
any tips or prices>>>>advice>>>>>critics?
thanks in advance

If the timing chains have let go, you need a lot more than chains and tensioners. The valves hit the pistons in these.
A complete long block is a good answer. Almost all 4.0 SOHC motors, even Mustang motors, will interchange. Your exhaust, front drives and intake along with computer are retained, and will bolt on.
I can get more info for you if you are interested.
(It's another forum and I'm too lazy to search it out right now.....)
