doesn't matter where its located if you can trace wires , it could be mounted on the tailgate as long as the wires were connected in the proper place . GEEZ

The 1964 (1961/64 same) switch is not only located in a different place than the 1965/66 switch, but it has 6 terminals.
The 1965/66 switch is different, has 4 terminals according to the pic you posted. So...how will posting the 1966 wiring diagram help the OP?
look at the original post ND he provided a link to a photo of his setup whih is a 65/66 and NOT original to his truck . It is something that he is just adding in off of another truck .

**** is the same 1961/66 F100/1100. Switch has 4 wires, so it could be from a 1965/66 F100/250.
Could it be depended on which worker put them in or which factory it was produced on where it was put in on the dash ? My 66 was in line with the other switches and the hole appeared to perfect for a shade tree job .
Is yours a 4x4 model? F100 or F250? If it has the sweep speedo I think that would move it inline with the other *****. My 66 2x4 Custom Cab with sweep speedo has the indicator just to the right of the steering column inline with the others.
My 4x4s are also Custom Cab as you can see on the invoices, but the F250 4x4 Custom Cab didn't get the sweep speedo like the F100 Custom Cab 4x4 did in 1966.
mines a 4X2 with the regular all in one cluster in the center . The old man down the road that I work on his truck when needed has a 4X4 with the regular all in one cluster in the middle also and his are mounted like mine ... all inline with the steering column .
If it is 66 2x4 with round speedo then you are likely looking at Standard Cab instead of Custom Cab, and your example falls in line with what ND posted. So does the 4x4 that you mention. I was just giving an exception to the rule that he provided in the quoted post.
The 4x4 you mention. That might take some more info to see where it falls. I assume it is also 1966, true? Standard Cab or Custom Cab? F100 or F250? If Custom Cab and F100 that wouldn't jive since you said round speedo, but if it is F100 4x4 Standard Cab or any F250 4x4 then round speedo would make sense. Also, are you sure his wasn't dealer added? You can see there are some variables besides the different assembly plants (mine are all San Jose) and the human factor, not that those aren't valid possibilities, too.
But, ya, I was just giving some more info since it wouldn't be true that ALL 1966 models had the emergency switch inline with the other controls.
Deluxe heater might even be a factor?? I don't know. You can see a chrome plug on this truck in that spot just to the right of the column where the indicator light *could* go, but the location for the switch to its right is taken by the choke and then to its right is the heater speed control (OFF/HI/LO) and pull to redirect to upper or lower outlets. Just the 3 holes to the right of the column. I'm not sure what standard heater used, but I assume it had a OFF/ON and pull. Some of you guys will know. I think you could also order them without a heater, too. Brrrrrr... Lol.
Interesting stuff - all the variables on these old trucks.
I'd be curious what fills those holes on the 4x4 you mention and, of course, the other details. But not too important if you don't have time.
My '66 F100 Custom Cab 4x4 has a round speedo. My pickup was also a special order through the Seattle DSO. Emergency flasher is in line with other *****.

Hey how's weather over there? Makes one wonder if the DSO was to change out the instrument cluster. I looked up the F100 4x4 Custom Cab in the Salesmans Fact Book and it calls for "bright-plastic instrument cluster" same as the F100 and F250 2x4 Custom Cabs.
The F250 4x4 Custom Cab uses instead what they called a "bright-painted instrument cluster". I had to read that twice to realize it was saying something different.
Although slightly modified with a SW gauge and a throttle cable, here's another 1966 F250 4x4 Custom Cab showing the same setup as my trucks.
