I've always wondered what special order items it may have, especially with the instrument cluster. Unfortunately the original owner has passed away and the 2nd owner didn't know what the special order items were.
As for weather - not as much snow as I expected but have enjoyed driving it when there has been some, especially since my Mini isn't setup to handle the snow!
Here's my red truck (white instrument panel) and you can see it has the same setup.
Another tidbit from the Salesmans Fact Book - The Custom Cabs all call out a "two-tone instrument panel" as included, except F350 and that's as high as this book goes. My white truck is almost pure white except for the instrument panel is red, armrests and the seat. Here's a good shot of it in my albums.
Thank you everyone for the help. I had to spend so many hours cleaning black paint of the wires to find the right wire. PO did an interior paint job without covering anything, have to love these old trucks. I wired it in finally, and got it working. It is not installed yet because I still need to drill out the spare **** hole to fit the flashing light part, but when I do I will post a picture. I loved the way that some are mounted but I like it low and out of the way. I hope mounting it unobtrusively like that, it will be needed less often. LOL
Picture is in my post just up 3 posts from this. Same as 1966 F250 4x4. See this 1963 thread for the location - scroll down about 10 pictures in the first post. Same.
Thanks for the info! That’s what I figured. Just curious, what is the blank hole for next to the choke?
That's a block off plate in a blank hole. They probably could have used it for either the light or the switch if the wires could reach from there to the higher spot in the bezel itself - but they didn't seem to. They did use that extra hole for the 1965/66 2WD Custom Cab with the plastic bezel and sweep speedometer as well as some 1966 F100 4x4 Custom Cabs for the Emergency Flasher indicator light as shown below.
Here's my red truck (white instrument panel) and you can see it has the same setup.
TA455HO,
It appears that the emergency warning flasher indicator and switch are on the right side of the panel.
Have you ever seen it located on the left side of the panel?
That's my buddy Don's 1966 F250 4x4. He installed the Bostrom Viking T-Bar buckets seats in his truck back around the time that he bought it from another friend named Buzz who had bought it new in 1966. Buzz wanted a newer 1967 F250 4x4 in the same Arcadian (light) blue color.
That 1966 also has an ultra-rare Warn overdrive that bolts to the back end of the NP435 replacing the original extension housing. That's the 3rd shift lever that's visible inside the truck.
Here's some pictures. You can see the 1966 on the far right and the 1967 next to it. Same exterior color. Buzz is on the Greeves motorcycle with the ammo box tied to the front forks. Don is to the right next to his wife in the white shirt with the red horizontal stripe.
