Old Ranger is running great!.........after a valve adjustment and finding out that the "Holley expert" put a spring in backwards in my carb (I didn't see it either)........make final adjustments on Sat. and install the new GM HEI ign. module.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Off to Salem early this morning. An amendment got attached to the bill late so they postponed the work session on SB 941 until Monday.
Was kind of interesting sitting in on and listening to a bunch of Motorcyclists trying to convince the Judiciary Committee to move the "White Line Fever" bill onto the floor for a vote. That will allow m/c's to "white line" between lines of cars when traffic in a 55 or greater zone slows to 30 mph or less. It would also allow them to "split lanes" in the same conditions or at red lights.
Then I had to race for McMinnville where the Warden had some medical tests. After that is was home to change clothes and then out to the farm. Dad was out on the riding mower and managed to run over a small diameter long steel rod of some type. Really wound it up in the blades and jammed it up pretty tight. Got that out and the blades cleared. Will have to pull them off in the next couple of days and sharpen / balance them up again. I took a couple of good nicks out them.
Then spent some time cutting on one of the trees that need to be cut up and cleaned up.
Maybe we should invite ISIS to the capital. Just saying...............
Absolutely no friggin way. Pink Floyd, Queen Ginny and Princes Sara would take all of them out for the most expensive steak dinners and drinks they could find and all on the tax payers dime!
Not much... helped my youngest BIL buy a truck... Ford of course!
I did get my CB installed in my truck. I just need a better mic and I'll be set. The guy at the CB shop told me that I stold this radio from the guy I bought it from. I said "hey, I paid what he was asking" $30 for a Cobra 148GTL ($200 radio new).
I've got a CB in my truck that I've been toying with the idea of replacing. My SSB fried so I put a "cheap" midland in for hunting season. I pulled the antennae off right after hunting season with the idea of replacing it with a 120" steel whip and spring, but never got around to it so they are decorating the garage.
Been awhile since I actively played with the thing. Surprised to see anyone outside the trucking community talking about them. Anyone still using SSB except to "shoot" skip? I've got a big base Navaho SSB set up but have had it in a box for a couple of years now and never got around to putting a new base antennae up.
Since the advent of the GMRS/FRS we've used those most of the time for hunting and fishing.

I think I have a very similar model, it needs to be inspected and needs a mic.

I think quite a few of the truck drivers still use CB's. One of my buddies has a SSB radio and I've had my eye out for one too. I bought a short 4' wire whip with a spring and another 8' wire whip that will allow me to get above my camper when it's on the truck.
I had a Cobra 29LTD Classic... It was no slouch. I just knew the deal was too good to pass up.
I generally use mine when traffic backs up on the freeway, if I'm hauling my camper and traveling with another vehicle... Usually my BIL and end up talking to each other because everyone else in our rigs have fallen asleep. or if I'm by myself and bored.
