Belated good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 41.1, wet, dank and fog. Had nearly 0' visibility. Seems to have lifted to about 50-75' depending where you are at.

I agree... second opinions are usually a good thing.
I was going to say when one battery goes bad that unfortunately it's better to replace both at the same time. But since it was a warranty replacement that's a different story.
Can't seem to get them to both fail at the same time. The drivers side looks like it just came off the shelf and tested as if it were a brand new battery so with the Pax side warranty it seems a waste to throw a $100 bill at a battery that looks and tests as if it were new.
Replaced both batteries together in 2011. Then, the Passenger side in 2013 (warranty), the drivers side 03-2014 (warranty) now back to the passenger side.
I'm going to crawl under the hood today and see what I can see back there in the well. I'm seeing where there have been a lot of problems with the R & R of these things. Found this https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l-trouble.html
Also found several You Tube Videos, some are O.K., some not so good as far as running into problems. Also found several references to taking it out without removing the turbo, but in each case it seems that they heated a wrench up and bent it to fit. The little sucker doesn't look like it should be too much trouble, but I'm seeing an awful lot with the tappet broken off. Just afraid I'll get in there and fine the same thing and not have the proper tools to extract it. Also having a hard time swallowing the inflated $100 added on to the pump price at the stealership plus the $100 an hour labor rate.
Jon told me that they had the diesel mechanic come over and check it. He said the tandem fuel pump was definitely leaking and that it wouldn't be long before I would have to address the problem. Said the Turbo has to be taken out to get to it. He said it is about a 5 hour job and $766.26 to R & R it. Said the pump was about $200 of that which seems to be a tad bit high to me.
I think I'm going to go down the road and talk to Corey and see if he would change it for me for a lot less.
Edit: If I got the right part, F6TZ-9350-A. Riffraff has a Ford OEM for 99.61, Ford Parts (Fordparts.com)@ 173.59. RockAuto run from 70 to $98 but are all post market - no Ford (Motorcraft)
Just not sure I want to try and tackle that myself. I've found some horror stories about things breaking and / or dropping down into the cam.........
One thing you might consider, since you're going to be in there anyway, is to convert it over to the late-model 7.3 system, where a frame-rail Bosch-type electric pump is used. The fuel pump hole in the valley gets sealed off with a freeze plug.
Good afternoon all. In early to work on Taxes, mortgage stuff and I might even try a little crying in my beer.
Went out and was looking over the pickup. The leak really isn't all that bad but it is wet there and is in need of getting fixed in the not too distant future.
