Ford Explorer engine ticking
Hi all
Just a quick question, my 2006 4.6 explorer has a ticking noise when you first start it up. It lasts for about 10 seconds and goes away. Sounds like a valve tappet when the oil needs changed etc. It has been running 5-w-20 in it like the book says. I'm going to change it again and see if it helps.
Has anyone else run into this. Any luck changing to a different grade.10w-30?

What oil filter are you using? Some oil filters will let the oil drain back into the oil pan, then when you start the engine it takes a few seconds to pump the oil back up into the engine. The Motorcraft FL820S is a good filter for that engine.
