Thanks to TA455HO I now have a nice original set of rear e-brake cables for my 66 F250. The long spring on my original cables had broken in half making them useless for setting and releasing the e-brake.
My question is this: Is there anything I should do to my "new" cables? The cable seems to move pretty easily in the tube but it feels a tiny bit sticky. I thought of simply soaking them in some 20 wgt motor oil or some tranny fluid to lubricate inside the tube. Any thoughts or suggestions? How were these things lubricated from the factory?
anything liquid that stays wet will attract road dust and make them worse , use a graphite type lube that will dry to a powdery film forming a coating on the cable and in the tube .
