Good source for weather stripping
Does anyone have a good source for nice quality door weather stripping?
If new reproduction weather stripping is the same way then I don't think you will get a easy to close operation.
I have purchased rubber weather stripping for my '63 from Steele Rubber, but I don't know what shape it is in now as it has been boxed up for the last 8 years almost as that project got put on the back burner but when I inspected it the weatherstrippng was a real soft rubber and I felt it would work great.
I don't know if either of those companies offer weatherstripping for trucks, but I don't think I would recommend the glass channel weatherstripping for these trucks from Steele, mine is still soft but the forward verticle run where it curves around into the top horizontal run, both doors the rubber has torn but its still soft and seals. But I installed those seals back in 04/05 and they are still soft and seal perfectly.
You can use Dennis Carpenter, but be cautious not all of their products uses original ford tooling. The products that do will state in the description that they use original ford tooling for them.
The other thing to be sure about is not all of their products are exact reproductions. For example they have only one single rear window seal for trucks with the sliding rear window. Problem is though it does not state that it has the chrome trim and mine which has never been replaced has a chrome trim from the factory. I would be weary of buying this weather stripping without first calling to verify it does come with a chrome trim lock for the rear window otherwise I will go with NPD for it as I found NPD tends to have more accurate reproductions than the other companies do for these truck.

I was going to get ahold of metro old car world, as they are only about 20 minutes from my house and give them a try but it's been close to 20 years since I have delt with them and have not heard how there products are or if they even make weather stripping for these trucks.
I'll be watching this thread, but an honest answer would be great.
Also, I'm looking in the Dennis Carpenter catalogue as I right this and as far as weather strip, it does not state that is is made from the original ford tooling. It is an old 2012 catalogue though. P.S. If I find the old receipt for my 89, I will tell you where not to buy them from, there just no good.

From personal experience Dennis Carpenter does sell good quality products, but as I said in a previous post not all products are made on the original factory tooling. If it does not have a disclaimer stating it is made using the original ford tooling then it is not built on the original tooling.
There is another company but I do not have access to my Hemmings catalog at the moment but they have an ad in there for a weatherstripping company that claims to use the best sponge rubber for their weather stripping. You can check them them as their ad seems to imply that their seals are the softest out there and wont require your doors to be slammed to shut.
Not sure how true this is but I might consider getting it for my '56 if the door seals I got for my '63 are too stiff.
I have ordered from BGY and Metro MP so far with equally unpleasant results despite the great boasting of their sites. This is why I've been hoping to hear from someone with first hand experience of a brand or site that turned out well.
So I called Dennis Carpenter and ordered the new seals from them, as I stated in another post, no where in there catalogue does it state that these seals are made in the U.S.A. But I ordered them anyhow because I have had good luck with them before. I received them on Friday, I opened up the box and in three places it says "Made in China" so much for making there stuff in house from the original Ford tooling.
I have bought aftermarket seals before and absolutely hate them, but I'll let you know how these work later this week after I get the glass back in the truck.
I have bought a few things from Dennis so far and have got NOS ford parts from, the valve cover gaskets I got from them for my '56 292 Y8, they are original ford gaskets in the Ford packaging with a copyright date of 1966. I got a generator kit and the armature is an actual ford boxed NOS part. the bearings how ever said china on them and they threw in a rear bearing in the kit but the Ford boxed armature had a bearing already pressed onto it.
