Triton 3v #4 plug. Help!!

Triton 3v #4 plug. Help!!

Hi guys! Whats the best way to remove the #4 plug in a 5.4 3 valve Triton engine in a 2006 f250. I have the entire driver side bank done. All 4 broke! It just seems that access to number 4 (rear plug, passenger side) is next to impossible. I can't imagine trying to use the broken plug removal tool on that cylinder. Any tips on special tools, extensions, swivels? Is there something that I should remove to gain access? Thanks in advance!

there are quite a few threads on removing the plugs. one way is to use a impact wrench on a warm engine plugs. most of the time they pop right out with out breaking the plug..

have you done a search on youtube.. there are several videos. Another ford first (f' up) on this deal.

^^^ He's right, a warm engine and a impact will get the best results. Then I recommend the Lisle tool for removing the plugs that break. I have done 2 trucks this week, one SD, and a F150, the F150 is much tighter to get to the rear plugs than the SD but is still very doable.

Lisle tool is good. I got mine from Napa. I used a foot stool that straddles the top of the tire to get in there and a whole selection of extensions and a universal joint. It's a PITA.

Yep, that's what they look like. Also I only use the original Motorcraft spark plug to put back in, the 1 piece Champions will twist the hex off and leave the threads in the head when you try to replace them. When the hex twists off then your pulling the head because the Lisle tools will not work. Been there before.
