How to tell if a 2001 expedition a 5.4 or a 4.8

 

i would look at the emissions sticker.

otherwise, post up the 8th digit of your VIN.

I know on the earlier models the 4.6 came with spark plug wires, where the 5.4 came with cool packs. Not sure if that's always the case but that was my experience.

 

Just an FYI, it's either a 5.4 or a 4.6, there is no 4.8 engine.
