That's pretty expensive.. Im sure you could get one from a JY for 20 bucks or so, I am curious what your skills are in perspective to the ability to personally execute this task, do you want to remold the actual cover? It seems like it would be the easiest choice. Do you know how to make fiberglass moldings?
Yes that's ridiculous on price. As far as the mocking of it and molding it and fitting it perfectly. I'd more then likely have to remove or trim the edges. I'm decent with fiberglass but not that skilled. I'd do what I could to get it to fit good, then I'd trim my carpet and get it to have just enough (an inch or so) of carpetto come up the sides, or just use a trim molding to bolt it onto the rubber carpet I have.
I'm more concerned with the size of it, and also the angle of the shifters. If I can pick one up for cheap I'll most definitely try it. I currently am sitting with no boots and torn carpet from making the floor pan fit my 5speed swap.

I wouldn't even worry about the carpet, you actually may not like it and wont to remove that center piece with something else in the future. I say mock up a piece of cardboard and go from there. That's just my 2 cents...
With enough money, time and patience...anything could work. But...I'd look at aesthetics here...and the roundy plastic mopar stuff from the 90's would not look good in a squared off 80's Ford. IMO
Plus it's part of a mopar....the two should never mix.
