VetNetA forum dedicated to ALL Veterans... their unique needs and wants. A place where Veterans old and new can discuss their problems and find the help and support they are looking for.
It's been over 40 years since I was in combat, but I still struggle with my PTSD on a daily basis. My hope is that we can help each other out and if we can prevent just one suicide we win...
Thanks for all the support guys. You're making me one happy grunt...
I'm a crummy administrator - but as stubborn a puppy as they come. You have seen me hang on to this notion for years, even when one moderator from "a southern state" opinionated that I would probably not stick with it -
Well that was four years ago. You didn't even have to ask, I'm in.
I've been offline more than usual because I am hip deep in what I think of as "The Great War on Trees", it is winter. The trees that I have had to do something about around my property and structures are now bare of green and prime targets for taking down, so that's where I have mostly been. That and recovering from unaccustomed efforts.

But I don't cut wood at night...
Whatever I can do, I'm on it.

Glad to hear it Dutch. Keep up the fight on timber. It saves on heating costs.

Well it might - if I had a wood burning heater or a fireplace. But it's on the list of "To DO's", and by the time I have that, the stuff will be well cured. Always provided I don't drop a huge limb or something on top of myself...
It is also tied in with ways for a veteran to make ends meet. If I had to pay someone to do all of this for me, I couldn't afford it on retired E-6 pay. It just wouldn't happen.
It has also given me the notion that SOME of this wood can be sold - and that would be a big help right there.
What I've been saying? That vets have a lot of skills and abilities? Not to mention a deep down self confidence? A willingness to rip into a bad situation and make it good?
Yeah, all of that and a cup of java!!!
One of my neighbors has already commented: "You did all of that YOURSELF???"
I think it's a great idea, I belong to wounded warrior foundation as well as DAV. We do great things for our vets and anything that I can do Don let me know, I WAS IN THE FIRST GULF WAR, way back in 1990. you can PM me and maybe get it together.
