I just bought a Ford 351M for $50 and I want to start rebuilding it. Whats a good book to use and where can I get a good kit. Is it easy to make into a 400 4bb? Is this a good book: How to Rebuild Your Ford V-8 Author: Tom Monroe .
You can answer your questens many times by just using the search function or even looking at the first page of topics. It is a lot faster than asking again.
The Tom Monroe book is a very good book to use. I have it and used it a lot on my rebuild. It covers all aspects of general overhauling of the engine.
I suggest you get a few books for reference and ask plenty of questions here. Also, timing specs are posted on the forum at the moment. Copy them, you'll need the information as most books don't have it.
The most important things to have to overhaul an engine are
1) a plan
2)money
3)plenty of accurate information
4)plenty of time
5)someone to help
6)proper tools
7)a suitable place with plenty of room and out of the weather
8)boxes and ziplocks to put all of the stuff you remove in. Label the bags with a marker. Tag all of the hoses.
Where are you located? Near Mobile,AL?
