Best Engine Book for the 351M/400

I know that there are numerous posts in this forum that mention good reference books for rebuilding this engine, but I thought I'd start a thread so we could get all the opinions in one place.

I've heard good things about Tom Monroe's " How to Rebuild Ford Engines V8"

Anyone else have a favorite or an opinion on this book?

I used it when rebuilding my first motor (400), and it was absolutely the only reference I needed. Shoot, it even has a section on rebuilding Ford carburetors. Very very thorough, great pictures, just an excellent resource IMO.

I would use a book for specs but do alot of research on here. Though some books are very good there are sometimes differences in what the factory may have thrown at an engine because of parts supply etc. Also there has been alot of evolution with this engine of late that may not be in a book.

By the way, is that your picture on your posts or is that what you use to throw things at in the garage when you get mad.

It's me. Ain't I pretty? I just had that pic kicking around on my desktop when I set this account up. I could change it to something, but I'm really lazy.

I have one of them- not sure which and have read and used it...however...for rebuilding the motor now...it's sub par. You can find updated builds on most motors but this site is the best I've found as to current build options on the 400. It does give the basic procedure though...not enough pics for me either... I'd rather not have to read.lol

it is a good read even if you are not doing a full rebuild yourself. Lots of handy info in there.
