I have a 94 ford ranger splash ext cab, with a 5 speed transmission. I have heard that to get the **** off you must pull very hard and very fast. I tried to pull on it pretty hard but it wasn't budging and I feared that I was going to rip the shift stick out of place or something. Does this thing come off or what?
I think mine 95 f-150's comes off the same way. On a hot summer day sometimes mine will come off while i'm driving, just my style. When i downshift into second on a hard right turn, i pull on the shifter as a habbit and the shifter **** comes right off. Try using a hair dryer to warm it up, i think there is some kinda substance holding it on, maybe it will work i duno, just an idea.

I had a 93, 96 and 97 ranger. 2 of which were five speeds. The **** does come off, but it may take a little persuasion. Also, if you still have the shift diagram on the ****, may want to put a little black silicone around it. Both of mine came loose and started rattling. I just used a toothpick and some black silicone and got it into the little crack between that insert and the rest of the **** and it took care of it.
