Can't figure this one out.
I have the 29 gallon tank and with the way my filler was designed I have an extra 2 gallons or so. I had 1/4 tank when I filled up yesterday but I put 28.8 gallons in??
What the heck am I missing.

With the harpoon mod done I've put in (and seen put in) 33+ gallons on a "dry" tank.

I should have done the harpoon when I was messing with the water in fuel junk earlier in the year. I have to be sitting just right to get a smooth fill otherwise it takes forever.
Could be. Last week when I filled up I was below 1/4 tank and put in 29 gallons even but should have had at least 4 or 5 gallons in the tank. The whole thing is just screwy.
Will tell you from my observations the fuel gauge isn't a very accurate depiction of how much fuel is left in the tank, or at least what I have noticed on mine. I will try to explain. I got my Scan Gauge dialed in with each fill-up and that booger within .5 of what I need to put in to fill-up. If I look at it and it tells me 10.5 gals that's what it takes. I neck the tank every time. With that said when my needle drops to just below the "F" 10gals have been used. When my needle is at the 1/2 way mark I have used roughly 20gals. I originally thought the sending unit might have been faulty so I talked buddy into getting using his SG to monitor and his acts the same way. Not saying that their couldn't still be a fault somewhere but still pretty strange on two different trucks.

I would agree with that. I haven't messed much with the setting the scangauge up for that but I have seen it when down to just above the E and I'd have 4 gallons or so in the tank (checked by taking the sender out. Maybe I'll try setting up the scan gauge and see but the information center on the truck has been pretty darn accurate as far as miles til empty and such--but just the last month it just doesn't seem right.
If I could find someone near here with a Ford. Not a Chevy or Dodge
I would drain my tank and have then tow me to the
pump and do a fill up to see just how much a 38 gallon
tank holds

Good idea--or time it just right and pull in on fumes to the pump
Got a buddy that has a one of the larger Jeep
thingie that I bet I could get to tow me from the house.
I am only 2 miles from a station that has good fuel
and prices.
