Need help decoding door jamb sticker (noob)

Forgive me because I'm sure this question gets asked ALL the time, but I'm having difficulty completely decoding my truck's door jamb sticker.

Some of the things I am seeing on the physical sticker don't match what I have found on the internet. My notes are in red.

It reads:

MFD. BY FORD MOTOR CO. OF CANADA
DATE: 04/87
GVWR: 6250LB / 2834KG

FRONT GAWR: 3125LB / 1417KG
P235/75R15XL
15X8.0 JJ
AT 35 PSI COLD

REAR GAWR: 3750LB / 1780KG
P235/75R15XL
15X8.0 JJ
AT 41 PSI COLD

VIN 2FTEF14N0HCA58159

TYPE: TRUCK

EXTERIOR PAINT COLORS: 1D 1G 42
1D is "smoke metallic", 1G is "light smoke metallic", and 42 is "alpine green metallic" but my truck is blue/grey 2 tone - and there is no green anywhere

WB: 133 This one is obvious - 133" wheelbase
TYPE-GVW: F142 Can't find explanation for this anywhere
BODY: LD4 Can't find explanation for this anywhere
TRANS: A Can't find this trans code anywhere
AXLE: 19 3.55 non-LS rear axle
TAPE: 3 A thread on this forum says "3" is "Ebony" and for an Explorer not F-150. Also my pin stripe is red not black?
SPRING: D7 Spring code "D" is F-Series but what is "7"

Is it because I somehow ended up with a Canadian-built truck that I'm having these issues?

EXTERIOR PAINT COLORS: 1D 1G 42 = Maybe the truck was repainted.
1D is "smoke metallic", 1G is "light smoke metallic", and 42 is "alpine green metallic" but my truck is blue/grey 2 tone - and there is no green anywhere

TYPE-GVW: F142 = GVWR 6250
BODY: LD4 = Bodycloth bench Seat
TRANS: A = Manual - 4-speed New Process
TAPE: 3 = Copper unless it was a tutone then it would be Medium Charcoal Red Orange
SPRING: D7 Spring code "D" is F-Series but what is "7" The 7 = E7TA-5560-KA

Thank you for the prompt reply and helpful info, subford!

Yes, it was repainted - but the way the seller talked it was just a respray over the orig. color scheme. Even the door jambs , bed interior, and engine bay match. I'll have to do some investigating to see what it would have originally looked like.

I've never heard of a New Process, but now that you wrote that I was able to find some info. Wikipedia only lists a Borg-Warner T18 - was this NP-435 4-speed a special order or less common transmission?

The NP-435 4-speed was a common transmission in Ford trucks in the mid to early 80's and maybe earlier than that.
The New Process transmissions and transfer cases from the 60's on were made by the Chrysler Corp. They were used in both Ford and Chevrolet trucks.

Cool. When I googled it, most of the results seemed to pertain to '70s Broncos. I understand it is a strong "bulletproof" transmission and I'm happy to learn that. Paired with the 3.55 it drives like a tank, or a tractor.

NumberDummy, thanks for the VIN decoding.

Much earlier than that, see post 4.

1966/77 Bronco's came with the Ford type 3.03 3 speed all syncro manual trans (aka 3-on-the-tree).

Beginning in 1978, the Bronco is a completely different vehicle, 3 speed no longer available.

New Process 435 introduced in 1978 Bronco's, Warner T-18 introduced in 1979 Bronco's.

The NP435 shift lever retainer cap (B8T-7220-D) has two notches, is retained to the shift tower with 2 pins.

This cap must be pressed down by hand and held down while turning it counter clockwise to remove it.

Some people are unaware, use pliers or channel locks to remove it...which tears out one or both of the notches.

Not pleasant, because now they aren't going anywhere...until the puppy is replaced.

btw:

LD4: LD = Red Cloth & Vinyl / 4 = Styleside Pickup.

COLOR: 1D = Dark Charcoal Metallic / 1G = Light Charcoal Metallic.

42 is the DSO code = Cleveland OH Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

Ok, I have re-read this thread several times and each day something seems to get changed or added in the posts!

Thanks everyone for clearing up my confusion. I think all of my missing info has been filled in.

So NumberDummy, the paint of the truck should be a light grey and dark grey two-tone scheme? That must have looked much better than the blue - especially with a red interior. Now I will know what to do if I ever need to repaint.

Do you know which (dark or light) would have been inside the stripe?

Two different types of stripes for your truck:

Great info - I wonder which version it is supposed to have.

Another weird thing I noticed that seems to contradict itself, is the badge on the fender says "XLT LARIAT" but the badge on the dash says "XL F-SERIES".

Other trucks on here have constant badging between the dash and fenders.

This forum has a tools section at the top and it has a VIN Decoder. It's the one I use for my 1996 F350.
