Diesel core support

I need a core support for an '86 diesel with A/C. Can't seem to find them new, anyone know what the difference is between a gas and diesel support?

This was just brought up the other day. Go read this thread for the info you need:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...1990-f250.html

To summarize, the gas core support is much shorter than the diesel with A/C support. Diesel with A/C core supports are not available.

So does that mean the core w/o A/C is available? If so that's odd, because most of the IDI Ford's I've seen were A/C trucks. In fact I think I've only seen one, in a wrecking yard, that did not have AC.
And that makes sense to me considering the price of a diesel pickup, even in the '80s, that it'd come with basic options.
Or is that just anecdotal and non-ac trucks actually dominated the scene back in the day?

I think it was more an XL/XLT thing. My '85 is an XL, no A/C, manual windows/locks, no cruise, stripper. I don't know if the more basic trucks "dominated" the scene back then, but it seems there were more basic trucks in the '80s than there were in later decades.

Back in those days, trucks were made for work. They were a tool. If you wanted luxury you got a car. Nowadays, everybody needs every creature comfort on their truck right down to heated and cooled seats.

That's what I'm saying though, in the mid sixities and earlier they were made for work, by the late 60s they were made for travel. A lot of the '80s Fords have a lot of the bells and whistles, nearly all of the diesel fords did since a diesel cost so much there wasn't a point in buying a diesel with basic truck options.
That's been my observation anyway.

I wish someone (in America) would manufacture a A/C core support for these trucks. I'm almost sure there would be enough of a demand for them now.

im not too sure that they know there is a difference between gas and diesel supports because they list them as fitting but supposedly if you order one, you'll be shipped the smaller gas supports.it's very possible since they list them as fitting both, that they simply don't know they should be making a devoted diesel support.
we should probably be sending requests with the diesel support bottom loop measurements to the aftermarket (the actual manufactures, not seller web sites) co's.

Oh, they know by now. Plenty of sellers have been told this, every time they get one returned for not being the right fit. They just make money on return shipping and re-stocking, so they won't change their descriptions.

I am in need of a core support for a 94 IDI with ac. Does my generation truck follow the same pattern as yours? If so that sucks cause I just bought a gas core support. Gonna pick it up next weekend.

Every single "OBS" (pre-99) diesel truck has a different core support than a gas support. So the answer to your question is yes, you bought the wrong style support.
