anti-theft and security

anybody out there dealing with security issues?
just picked up a spanking new true blue STX.
trouble is I live in the city and park on the street.

I do have an alarm but I keep the sensitivity turned way down
because basicly I think those things are obnoxius and a real nuisance and only marginally effective.

also use the Club but any fool with a hack saw or bolt cutters could always just cut through the steering wheel to defeat those.

Considering the Revalco system which uses a 16 pin connector on the dash and you take the mating part with you when you lock up.
sounds good in principle Would really like to know if someone out there has experience with this product???.

the other thing I do is when I leave the car overnight I wrap a hardened chain with cloth cover around the steering column and move the drivers seat all the way forward and fold the seat back to the front and lock the left side seat post to the steering column,
which I hope would slow down anyone trying to get at the ignition and alarm.
I guess that this is reasonably effective in that it is unfamiliar to thieves but is a little bit cumbersome in practice.

which brings me to my real question...
I am considering making a bar that would hook around the brake pedal arm, pass under the seat and padlock to a post mounted on the floor just behind the seat. possibly also locking the seat forward at the same time. I believe this would accomplish a number of things: among them preventing use of the brakes (but not emergency brake) more importantly with automatic trans you cannot take it out of park without pressing down the brake.
anyone have any experience with how hard it would be to just force the lever into drive without using brake?

also planning to replace fastners on front end grill and bumper with tamper proof screws

I do plan on driving my sweetie pie for a good long while and so it would be worth it to me to develop an obscenely effective home made system.

would really appreciate hearing any ideas, thoughts or past experience from all of yous out there.

anti-theft and security

I know that without the proper key with the correct chip in it, it will not start.

If you gotta do all that to keep your truck out front of where you live....wouldn't it be easier to move???? I'm just wondering how much time your gonna spend before you drive off dismanteling your system and how much time you have to take to rebuild it when you park....sound like it would add an extra 30 minutes to getting somewhere!

Trouble is that I love my work and for me NYC is where the work is.

actually only really lock it all down for parking overnight. Live and work in the same building so dont even drive it some days.

you are right on though it needs to be easy enough to use so that you dont get lazy.

anti-theft and security

Your truck came equipped from the factory with one of the best anti-theft systems available. Unless a thief has one of your encoded keys, the only way they can steal your truck is to drag it up onto a flatbed and haul it away. And THEN they would have to replace the entire ignition system and have access to a Ford computer to re-code the security system. No car thief is going to waste his time. So explain to me again why you want to add all this other stuff? The anti-theft fasteners on the exterior parts makes sense, but the rest of it is just a waste of time and money.

Thanks 1956markII ...
can that really be right? I did some research on the internet...
the F150 is one on the most stolen vehicles out there!
I would guess that people who steal cars must have some way around this...
any body else have specific knowledge re chip in the key????

I guess that the real raeson to bother is just to do everything I can so that in 15-20 years I'll be writing in bragging about my 300000 original miles
