can i replace only two tires 2013 expy?

Hi - just need some expert advise. i have a '13 Expdy with 38K miles. It came with Wrangler SRA's and have 40-50% tread left. I have a very slow leak in one tire, near the side wall, and no one will plug it due to location. in the cold it drops below 26lbs every few days, but when temp is over 50, it hold air consistently. I'm hesitant to put in the stop leak fluid as I heard it messess up air pressure sensors and rims.

So my question....I have a pair of Wrangler ATS LT's with ~70% tread left. Can I mount this pair (in the rear) without risking any drivetrain issues due to different age/tread wear on the complete set? my other vehichle is AWD and I did this one it it really messed up the system.

Thanks.

No expert here:
In my opinion it is perfectly ok to put those tires on the same axle. (Front or rear). But I do think putting them on the rear is best.
For the rear, the tires should be the same diameter so as not to affect the rear differential.
I agree with you regarding using the stop leak fluid.

should be ok, for the most part 4Auto is mostly RWD or something like that, but sends power forward as needed. How are you liking those stock SRAs? i found that mine performed horribly and was beyond horrible in even a little snow. I'm running Wrangler All Terrain Adventures now, feels much better.

The problem with A4WD is that it engages 4WD when it senses different rotational speeds of the wheels. Your statement is true when all 4 tires match, but not true when they don't because if the diameters are different enough to trip the limits of the sensors, the truck will be in 4WD. With mismatched tires it is advisable to drive in 2H to avoid that possibility.

thanks for input...

thanks for the input. We rarely ever use 4AWD or 4high/low. only in snowy conditions for short stints. So i figure I can extend the life of the SRA's a bit by putting the ATS' on the rear and driving in 2WD 99% of the time. Apparently the anti-lock sensors are also monitoring diameter, but I think my tread difference is less than 1/8" or 3/16"... putting the ATS' on tomorrow so we'll see how it goes..

You will have no problem at all. people adjust air in the front and rear tires all the time, Everything still works fine, a 1/16 of an inch in tire terms is nothing. Your 4x4 and ABS will work as intended.
