Programming wireless doorlock remotes

So I have an 2002 F350 XLT which I bought used a few years ago. The guy I bought it from wasn't the original owner and only could find one key for the truck and didn't have any remotes.

I assumed the truck wasn't setup for the wireless remotes and so I went out and bought an aftermarket remote setup. But once I started going through the wiring and compared it to the Haynes manual I realized my truck was actually wired for wireless remotes!

So I went on Amazon and bought 2 remotes for $10 and followed the programming procedure of opening the driver door, hitting the unlock button and cycling the ignition from Off to Run 8 times. But the door locks don't cycle, which according to the instructions indicates the truck doesn't support wireless remotes?

At this point I guess I need to figure out if there is another way to tell if the truck really has support for remotes... maybe it's just a module I need to plugin somewhere into the wiring harness? Or maybe????

Thanks!
-Aaron

there are two different remotes for door locks. you have to make sure you have the right one. not sure when ford changed from one to the other.

but.even if you have one of each, it is did not go through the lock/unlock cycle, good chance you do not have wireless door lock ability.

Try cycling 5 times, 8 time and 10 times. Seems like there are a few different combinations.

one side note.....should you acquire another remote....and go to program it...you loose the programming of the first if you only try to program it to recognize the second....sooooooo....you have to program both...not just one...

save some frustration as to why the first one stopped working...

you can program up to 4 remotes in most cases.

Yeah, I programmed both remotes at the same time. Easy.

Glad this all worked out for you. I HATE it when I look at a used vehicle and stuff is missing or the seller can't find something. Remotes, floor mats, owner's manual...this stuff is important, and if it came with the vehicle...why the hell are you keeping it? Memorabilia?
