2008 f250 with 5.4 250k

Hello all, new to the forum as well as fords. I've owned 3 dodge 1500 but LOVE the 08 body style. I just found an 08 that was a company truck, fleet maintained, with service records available. 5.4 with 250,000 miles. Leather and really a clean truck for the miles. Fx4 pkg too. Anyhow, I've tried to do some reaserch on these motors but would like some info from the true experts on here.. What do you all think of the high miles? Anything to be really concerned about? I don't pull or tow anything besides kiddos and the occasional couch. Just want a crew cab and this one seems too nice to pass up. Thanks in advance for your thoughts fellas.

Anything in the paperwork for transmission services? That would be my main concern on a high mileage truck.

Ill have to double check it. The guy told me they did all the recommended
Services at the appropriate times as part of their maintenace program but they did it all in house. I plan on taking to Ford and having them checkit out for me as well. Thanks for the reply Matt.

Think of it in terms of risk......250,000 miles maintained or not is a lot of miles......but also consider that fleet shuttle vans with the 5.4 are hitting 1,000,000 miles......for me the price is biggest factor is it good enough deal that I can afford to maintain/ fix something when it does go south. ...also I'm like you the 08-10 Super duty is my favorite body style

I agree, it is alot of miles. But like you and most others have said, maintenance is key. Hes asking 8k for it. And its a NICE truck. My 01 dodge 1500 has 160k and its still running strong with no issues. Ive fixed a few things on it and I know it will be reliable for atleast another couple of years, BUT its not a crew cab which is what I really want. And im relatively easy on my trucks so Im hoping, if I do buy it, it will last a couple years until I pay off the wifes truck, and hop into something else, maybe a diesel.

Have them check the front end carefully. Ball joints and tie rod ends run around $800 installed and aligned.

Well, pulled the trigger on the ford. Checked out ok with no major issues. Thanks for the advice guys. So far, installed a 8" JL W3 microsub and kicker rear speakers. Ill upgrade the head unit and fronts down the road. Sounds amazing but with the limited space available, I had to modify the cup holders on the back of the center console and raise them up. It works for me and my family's needs. Also installed an HID kit but one of the ballasts was bad so no pics of that yet anyhow, here are some pics for you guys.. dont judge me on the truck being dirty, took it up the Winter Park with the fams and its been too cold to clean ojt lol

Good luck with it brother.... first things first dump the lube and put some fresh oil in that jammie.... I picked up a 2008 F250 FX4 with the 5.4 from a dealer. Complained about the engine noise sounding like a diesel. They offered to take the truck back or give me a power train warranty ESP through Ford. Long story short I got a new engine from Ford. Failed cam phaser put metal in the engine and chewed every bearing and journal up. Very common issue in these engines... Extremely diligent maintenance is going to be key IMO.
