C6 is specific to FE engines used 1968/76 F100/350 (360/390) and on the C6, the converter housing is made as part of the transmission case.
Bell housings were only used with M/T's.

I have an FMX in my truck, the driveline (351c & FMX) came out of a 73 Mercury. Driving down the road yesterday going about 45mph I accidentally hit the shifter while leaning down towards the floorboard and knocked the tranny into reverse. The tires screeched the motor died I jerked it into N as soon as I realized what I had done and let it coast for a second. Restarted the motor and put it into drive and it's still working fine. I never thought much of the FMX but now I have gained some respect for it.

That's an understatement! I had that "oh **** I guess I'm gonna be pushing it to the shoulder and calling for a tow" thought, man I was happy as a pig in slop when I fired it up and put it in drive and it took off again. I drove all the way home with the radio off listening to every sound trying to determine if I could hear anything wrong. *knock on wood* so far so good
